Instaff Manuals

When we implemented the new email system in Edmonton Catholic Schools in September, we placed a limit on mailbox sizes to control storage and therefore the cost of the system. We assigned 50 megabytes to administrators and 30 megabytes to secretaries. As a note most free email systems (i.e. hotmail) limit mailboxes to 2 megabytes.

We are continuing to monitor the storage allotment and assign increased storage where appropriate. We will increase the overall storage by buying more memory if necessary but we would like to limit space as much as is functionally possible as a cost saving strategy.

To that end, we are initiating three new strategies lead by Terry Station, a member of our training department.

    • "Managing Email with Personal Folders" provides information on increasing the effectiveness of email organization. This includes setting up personal folders and dealing with unwanted and "junk" mail. (NOTE: this only works with Outlook, not WEB Mail)

    • "Displaying Public Folders" The following explains how to view the contents of the Public Folders in your Webmail program.

    • Terry will be available through phone (919-1718) and email to help you on an individual basis.

    • Terry will be contacting individuals who have exceeded their storage limits to provide help or to see if limits need to be increased.
